It is "almost automatic" for Pfizer coronavirus vaccine to get an emergency use authorization of the Philippines since the drugmaker was already approved in United States, Malacañang said on Sunday.

“Tatapatin ko kayo. Dahil ang Pfizer ay aprubado sa Amerika, halos automatic na yan,” Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque said in an interview over Teleradyo when asked of the chances for Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine to secure an EUA.

Pfizer filed an EUA in the country last December 23, citing the information from Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Director-General Eric Domingo.

Pfizer secured an EUA in United States last December 12 with a proven efficacy rate of 95%.

Securing the authorization will allow the drugmaker's vaccine to be used for country's inoculation.
