President Rodrigo Duterte slammed the International Criminal Court (ICC) for butting into the country’s affairs in a night address yesterday.

Duterte called them “crazy” for prosecuting him while there are “functioning” local courts in the Philippines.

"Itong ICC puro kabulastugan man rin yang inyo. By what divine law gave you the authority to prosecute me in a foreign land tapos ang nakaupo puro mga puti na ulol!"

“We have the courts here functioning. And if the courts [say] that I should go to jail, I will go to jail,” he added.

ICC has found a “reasonable basis to believe” the alleged extrajudicial killings (EJKs) held on the ex-Davao mayor’s term earlier this year.

Prior to this, the same court released a preliminary inquiry against drug-related deaths last 2018.

Other local and international rights groups also condemned such crimes following Duterte’s claiming over 5,000 lives during the controversial war on drugs.

In the same address, Duterte renewed a threat on “drug lords pati mga kidnapper, drug pusher” who, according to him, deserved to be burned.
