A policeman who was caught on tape shooting a mother and son to death has pleaded not guilty for two murder charges against him, an official confirmed Sunday.

Central Luzon Police Office Public Information Officer Soledad Elifanio said Police Master Sergeant Jonel Nuezca was arraigned last January 7 and entered a not guilty plea.

Nuezca will be tried for two counts of murder for the death of his neighbors, Sonya Gregorio and her son Frank Anthony.

The crime happened due to heated argument of using an improvised noicemaker last year. However, Nuezca surrendered to authorities.

The Philippine National Police said it had started processing the dismissal of Nuezca from the service.

Relatives of the Gregorios said they have already secured witnesses who would testify against Nuezca in court.

Elifanio said the next hearing will be on February 4.
