Russu Laurente became the second housemate to be evicted from the Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) house in its current season – after receiving more votes via Kumu and text to be evicted than to be saved.

Russu, tagged as the "Bunsong Boksingero ng General Santos City", is a 19-year-old boxer from General Santos City. He came from a family of boxers, with his father and uncle mentoring him in the sport.

To date, Russu has garnered sports awards such as Gold Medal in Batang Pinoy, Best Boxer in Palarong Pambansa 2017, Bronze Medal in Asian Youth in Thailand, and National Boxing Team.

Russu was recently under fire after being revealed of supporting the shutdown of ABS-CBN.

"Don't mock our president. As bare minimum, we will only watch GMA," Russu wrote in a Bisaya tweet dated April 2.

"I wanted to share memes about ABS-CBN, but I have directors and artists friends so, it's better not to," he added.

In one of the latest episode of the show, he explained that his opinion was influenced on what he saw on social media. He said that as a person from Mindanao, it was normal for him to express his support to President Rodrigo Duterte.

"Nag-yes ako sa ABS-CBN shutdown kasi alam mo naman sa social media is grabe makapag-influence. And lahat ng friends ko sa social media is from Mindanao at alam mo naman kapag nasa Mindanao, suportahan talaga nila yung.. alam mo na. Yung nagpasara ng ABS. And yun na influence ako, yung side lang nila ang nalaman ko," Russu admitted on the show.

The current season, PBB: Connect is the 15th edition of the show, which sees strangers from different backgrounds living together in one house.

It's a franchise of the Dutch reality show, and first premiered in the Philippines in 2005. The show has helped launch the careers of celebrities like Kim Chiu, James Reid, and Maymay Entrata.

The current season airs every night and can be viewed on A2Z Channel 11, the Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, Kumu, and iWant TFC.
