Detained opposition Senator Leila De Lima has no reason to celebrate even if she was acquitted in one drug case because she is still in jail, Malacañang said Thursday.

During a Palace press briefing, Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque said De Lima still has two pending drug cases. With a total of three cases filed against her.

“Bakit po siya magce-celebrate, eh nandoon pa rin siya sa selda niya?” Roque said.

“Wala kaming reaksyon diyan kasi nakakulong pa rin siya at siya’y nakakulong pa rin kasi mayroon pa siyang dalawang kaso,” he added.

Earlier, De Lima claimed “moral victory” for an acquittal of one drug case, especially during President Rodrigo Duterte’s administration.

“To be acquitted even in just one case, in the time of Duterte, is a moral victory,” she said in a statement Wednesday.

“We’re happy about my being absolved and the court’s dropping my case, Criminal Case No. 17-166,” the lawmaker added.

Muntinlupa City Regional Trial Court Branch 205 Judge Liezel Aquiatan, in a 41-page omnibus order, has granted the senator’s demurrer to evidence over Criminal Case no. 17-166.
