La Mesa dam approaches spilling level, Marikina River on 3rd alarm

The water level in La Mesa Dam and Marikina River continues to rise due to the heavy rainfall brought by typhoon Carina and the southwest monsoon as of Wednesday afternoon.

As of 3:30 PM, the water level in La Mesa dam is at 79.97 meters under critical level, while Marikina River is at 20.57 meters on 3rd alarm according to the Metro Manila Development Authority Effective Flood Control Operation System (MMDA-EFCOS) project.
Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) warned low-lying areas near Tullahan River in Quezon City, Valenzuela, and Malabon to experience flooding once La Mesa Dam overflows on spilling level 80.15 meters.
In Quezon City, Fairview, Forest Hills Subd., Quirino Highway, Sta. Quiteria, and San Bartolome will be affected.
For Valenzuela City, Brgy. Ligon, North Expressway and La Huerta Subd. was warned, while Malabon City was also included.
Metro Manila was declared a State of Calamity according to the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benhur Abalos.
