The embers crackle softly, signaling the close of an unforgettable adventure. 🔥

As the College of Engineering at the University of the Philippines Diliman prepares to wrap up its annual Engineering Opening Week, affectionately dubbed Cozy Week: Pag-uwi sa KalEng'ga ng Tahanang Sambayanan this year, all eyes are on the much-anticipated Fireside Festivities: CulmiNight Celebration set to take place on August 29, 2024, at the iconic Ang Bahay ng Alumni in UP Diliman.

This year's Opening Week ingeniously weaves the concept of 'home' into every event,  reminding both fresh faces and seasoned students that the College of Engineering is more than just a place to learn; it’s a haven, a new ‘Kaleng'ga’—a word that carries with it the essence of care, protection, and community. The week has been an invitation to find home within the people, the experiences, and the shared journey that the college offers.

Cozy Week has been packed with memorable events designed to foster camaraderie and belonging. The festivities began with the Hearthside Welcome: Freshie Bonding Adventure (August 14–16), followed by the vibrant Cozy Beginnings: Opening Ceremony and Cottage Carousel: On-ground Org Fair on August 20. The week continued with the thrilling Eng'gchanted Orchard Games: Sports Fest from August 22–24, each occasion echoing the overarching theme of warmth and togetherness.

However, it is the Fireside Festivities that promises to truly encapsulate the spirit of the week. As students gather under the twilight, the event will kick off with a warm welcome from the OWeek Overall Heads, who will set the tone for an evening of reflection, recognition, and revelry. The program includes a game of Human Bingo, showcasing the talent and creativity of the engineering community through student and faculty performances. The culmination of the evening will be a heartfelt recap of Cozy Week 2024, followed by an awarding ceremony that will recognize the outstanding achievements of students and organizations alike.

The celebration will be more than just an end; it will be a reaffirmation of the bonds forged during the week. Interactive games and social activities will add a playful touch to the evening, while the Socials Night that follows will allow students to let loose, dance, and sing their hearts out in an open karaoke session.

Co-organized by the esteemed EMC² Fraternity, known for its long-standing dedication to education and service, the event is set to serve as a testament to the fraternity's enduring legacy of brotherhood and community service within the College of Engineering.

As the week draws to a close, it will become clear that the CulmiNight is not just a conclusion but the beginning of a journey for every engineering student—a journey where they will find their 'Kaleng'ga' within the halls of UP Diliman. The fireside may dim as the night ends, but the warmth it generates will undoubtedly carry on through the coming academic year, a beacon for all those who seek knowledge, friendship, and a place to call their own.
