Dismissed Bamban, Tarlac City Mayor Alice Guo, known for her positive vibe in social media, showed another side of her as she became upset during the House Quad-Committee hearing on Friday.

Guo became upset when Davao Oriental 2nd District Rep. Cheeno Almario showed a video documentary from foreign news outlet Al Jazeera about Chinese spy She Zhijiang.

According to the video, She Zhijiang claimed to have given funds to Guo Hua Ping - the true Chinese identity of Alice Guo for her election campaign in the Philippines.

The documentary also showed Guo’s alleged hometown in Fujian, China, where her home is close to a Chinese Communist Party Office.

“Guo Hua Ping, China cannot be trusted. The two of us dedicated our lives to China’s Ministry of State Security. Look at what happened to me,” She Zhijiang said in the video.

The detained Chinese also said in the video the name of Guo’s alleged mother - Lin Wen Yi.

Representative Almario asked Guo again if she knew She Zhijiang.

“Hindi natin siya madedemanda, Ms. Alice, because he is now jailed in Thailand,” Almario said to Guo as questions continue to be thrown at the dismissed mayor.

‘Continued deSPYse’

Guo insists that she doesn’t know the detained Chinese, saying that it was unfair for her that the video tells she is a spy.

“The video said you are probably a spy,” said Surigao del Norte Rep. Robert Ace Barbers.

“Mahal ko po ang Pilipinas, Filipino po ako, hindi po ako spy,” Guo replied.

PBA party-list Representative Margarita Nograles noticed the change of tone from Guo as the hearing tackled the video of She Zhijiang.

“Because you’re saying na hindi mo kilala at idedemanda mo, ano naman mabe-benefit din nitong si She Zhijang to name you?” Nograles asked Guo.

“Your Honor, I think it’s better for you to ask him kasi siya po ‘yong naglabas ng video so siya po ang nakaka-alam kung ano ang makakapag-benefit sa kanya, definitely hindi po ako spy,” Guo replied, seemingly upset to Nograles’ question.

“Relax ka lang, you don’t have to be so riled up if you know the truth, right?” Nograles tried to calm down Guo.

Guo faced the quad committee for the second time, as the four panels continued their probe into the illegal activities of Philippine Offshore Gaming Corporations (POGOs).

The dismissed mayor stands firm that she was not linked to the Pogo in Bamban despite the accusation of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) of having business interests in Baofu, the owner of the lands where raided Pogos reside.

Guo allegedly divested ownership for Baofu when she ran for mayor, but DILG believes that the P2.5 million amount she divested “was grossly incongruent to her investment for Baofu which is eight hectares of land.”
