Pasig Court orders Alice Guo, co-accused’s transfer to city jail

Dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo or Guo Hua Ping, faced an arrest warrant case over non-bailable charges qualified for human trafficking as ordered by the Pasig Regional Trial Court (RTC), issuing for her transfer of custody with 14 co-accused to Pasig City Jail.

Pasig City RTC Branch 167 Presiding Judge Annielyn Medes-Cabelis ordered Guo’s transfer from Custodial Facility, Camp Crame to Pasig City Jail Female Dormitory after being charged with the violation of the Republic Act (RA) No. 9208, also known as the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003.
“After examining the five (5) Information, the Resolution, and all the documents presented during the Preliminary Investigation, the Court finds probable cause to hold accused Alice Leal Guo a.k.a ‘Guo Hua Ping…’ for trial for the crime/s charged against them,” said Cabelis in an order last September 19.
Walter Long, a Malaysian national and the detained co-accused due to ties with the illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) in Bamban, Tarlac, was also ordered by the court to be transferred to Pasig City Jail Male Dormitory from Tarlac Provincial Jail after being charged with the same violation as Guo.
“Let the corresponding commitment orders be issued against accused Alice Leal Guo a.k.a “Guo Hua Ping” and Walter Wong Long. All the accused in these cases are NOT ENTITLED to post bail as the charges against them are non-bailable.” said in the order.
Together with other co-accused is Guo’s business partner Huang Zhiyang, who was identified as the big boss of the illegal POGO firms by the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC), is also to be transferred to Pasig City Jail.
Guo and Long are set to appear in an arraignment and pre-trial conference through a video conferencing hearing on September 27, 8:30 a.m., to which they will be informed in front of the court with the charges placed against them.
Alice Guo remained in the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) custody until the court resolved legal issues on the graft case filed against her.
Guo said she fled from the Philippines using a white yacht at the port in Metro Manila in July, and was tracked and arrested by Indonesian authorities at Tangerang City, Jakarta, Indonesia on September 3.
