With the claims circulating, Erwin Tulfo replied “Ang tao po will decide, then let people decide,” when he filed his Certificate of Candidacy (COC) on October 6.
"How do you call that dynasty? It's not our fault, people are supposed to pick,” Bitag said in his COC filing on October 5.
Bitag opposed the so-called ‘Tulfo dynasty’ because according to him, they cannot have a dynasty in a national office and there’s no district they belong to.
"Kasalanan ba amin kung minahal namin ang aming propesyon sa media? Pareho kami ng iniibig—binigyan ng importansya,” Bitag added.
"I believe hindi po titigil yan hanggat wala pong batas,” Erwin reminded the media that a political dynasty is already in the system and there’s no law against it.
“So now, i'm introducing myself to you–this is another Tulfo,” Bitag mentioned that he ran for senator as an independent candidate based on the preferences of the people in a survey conducted.
According to Bitag, there is still a possibility that they will be seen together during the election campaign with due respect to his brother.
Based on Erwin’s statement, he also joined the Lakas–Christian Muslim Democrats Partylist (Lakas-CMD) which he found had the same ambition as him and his brothers.
“We will start working on day 1 immediately,” Erwin Tulfo assured the people that Tulfo brothers used to help marginalized and oppressed people.
As Bitag said, "We decided to be advocates by being part of the solution to the problem and that's all begun, and that's the reason why we're here."
