Veteran ‘superstar’ actress Nora Aunor filed her certificate of nomination and acceptance (CONA) on Monday, October 7, as the second nominee of the newly-formed partylist, People's Champ Guardians.
The actress explained in her speech that she seeks to help her countrymen, placing emphasis on her colleagues working in the entertainment industry.
“Para sa industriya po ng pelikulang Pilipino, ng mga kasamahan kong artista, yung mga maliliit na mga nagtatrabaho sa industriya ng pelikulang Pilipino, sa musika, at siyempre po lalong-lalo sa ating mga na kelangan talaga ng tulong, yung mga mahihirap po,” she said.
“Hindi naman po totoo iyon, kagaya naman po sa akin mayroon namang inaalok na pelikula sa akin at hindi nating pwedeng sabing walang pumapasok na pera,” the actress said, in response to the criticism of actors resorting to politics due to stagnant income in the film industry.
Their party-list advocates for the welfare of contractual workers, health workers, agricultural workers, migrant workers and the artists in the entertainment industry who bring “pinoy pride.”
“Kahit naman po third nominee ka o fourth nominee, iboboto ka ng tao,” she answered when asked why she was chosen second to former Congressman Nicolas “Nick” Enciso, the party’s first nominee.
In 2021, Aunor sought to run as nominee of NORAA (National Organization for Responsive Advocacies for the Arts) party-list.
Aunor also served as an endorser for the Bicol Saro partylist in the 2022 national elections.
