31,000 vies for Philippine Science High School slot

With the conduct of the annual Philippine Science High School System’s (PSHSS) National Competitive Examination (NCE) on November 16, 31,636 examinees will partake based on the list of examinees released by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) - PSHSS via a Facebook post on October 31.

Among the 31,636 applicants, only 1,860 slots will be available throughout the 16 campuses of the PSHSS.
All applicants have undergone a meticulous application process, which includes the completion of the application form provided on PSHSS’ official website among other certifications, before qualifying for the entrance examination.
Further qualifications include the following: must have a final grade of at least 85% in Science and Mathematics, otherwise a proof that the applicant is part of the top 10% of the batch; a Filipino citizen with no pending or approved immigrant application in another country; not more than 15 years old by June 30, 2025; at least satisfactory rating on character rating for school year 2023-2024; first time applicant of the PSHS-NCE; preferably, in good health.
The examinees will be tested at 4 different levels: scientific ability, quantitative ability, abstract reasoning, and verbal aptitude.
PSHSS reminds the applicants to secure their test permits, among other necessities for the said NCE.
In case of unforeseen natural calamities, the NCE may be postponed until further notice.
Should an examinee gain a slot, they shall be considered part of the list of DOST-PSHSS scholars for the school year 2025-2026 upon confirmation with the system.
