Explained PH’s Features and Lifestyle Desk Editor, Rinoa Dela Cruz has amplified Filipino women’s role in finding climate solutions during the UNICEF’s Girls Go Green Summit 2024 on October 23-25 in Bangkok, Thailand.

Dela Cruz, who also serves as a Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Kagawad from Barangay Tanza, Navotas joined young women across the Asia-Pacific region to discuss the adolescent girls’ struggles on the gender gaps in a greener economic transition.

She spearheaded the opening program of the event with a speech highlighting young women’s potential to acquire green skills, and also served as a panelist for the Girl-Led Climate Solutions discussion.

The Philippines’ delegate flaunted young girls from Navotas with how they are able to utilize data for community risk assessments and empower their peers on creating a strategic community contingency plan.

Dela Cruz saw the opportunity to represent the country abroad as an avenue for Explained PH leaders to thrive and make an inclusive community.

“My experience as a youth advocate is not only a personal journey but also a historical mark that represents how Explained PH can build the next generation of youth leaders who advocate for a just, inclusive, and engaging community,” she reiterated.

She also stressed the importance of Explained PH’s arm, Envisay in educating the youth with environmental issues.

“Explained PH, with its environmental arm EnviSay, opens up discussions on the issues that our environment experience and how we can voice out the needs of the youth to fulfill a youth-enabled environmental action,” Dela Cruz stated.

She is currently leading the Features and Lifestyle desk of Explained PH, after joining the organization in 2021.

The Summit was organized by UNICEF Europe and Central Asia, South Asia, East Asia and Pacific Regional Offices in partnership with UN Women and UN Environment Programme.
