It is operating from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. which is expected to provide commuters a shorter travel time from Quezon City to Parañaque City, according to the Philippine office of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
"LRT-1 will provide passengers a safe, reliable, and comfortable riding experience. They will also enjoy the benefit from connection with intermodal transport hubs at PITX and Dr. Santos stations,” JICA said in a statement.
From Fernando Poe Jr. Station in Quezon City to Dr. Santos Station in Parañaque City will cost 45 pesos, according to the Department of Transportation (DOT) Secretary Jaime Bautista.
Marcos expressed his gratitude to previous administrations that became the key to the opening of the first railway line during his term and said he would expand and continue these infrastructure projects.
“This is the nature of railway development and of any large-scale development: this is not a short-term endeavor,” President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said in the inauguration.
There are no free rides to commemorate the opening of LRT-1 Cavite Extension since this is a project of private sectors, Marcos answered in an ambush interview.
The project was carried out by the partnership of the Philippine government and Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) with the low-interest loan extended by JICA.
The president traveled ten minutes straight from Dr. Santos Station to Redemptorist Station with the cabinet officials, government workers, and media using the newly opened LRT-1 Cavite Extension.
Marcos would like to connect all four major railways through Unified Grand Central Station in Quezon City and Bautista also said that two more phases must be completed during Marcos' term.
