Marcos expressed his desire to work with the re-elected US president on issues that can create benefits for both countries and hopes for prosperity across the Pacific region.
“I have personally met President Trump as a young man, so I know that his robust leadership will result in a better future for all of us,” he added.
Trump prevailed in the US election by obtaining 295 electoral points, with 29 states and over 72 million votes.
Global News Organization The Associated Press reported that Trump won five of the so-called “swing states” which consists of North Carolina, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Michigan.
He is also projected to triumph in the two remaining swing states: Nevada and Arizona.
Projected as the election winner, Trump would become the second president after Grover Cleveland to serve nonconsecutive terms, following Cleveland's presidencies in 1885–1889 and 1893–1897.
Despite being found guilty on 34 felony counts and having four criminal charges, there is no U.S law that prohibits Trump to run for the presidency.
Under the 2016 Trump administration, the country has received $85 million worth of equipment to support the armed forces of the Philippines and $65 million for maritime security capability improvement.
