The disbursement aligns with Administrative Order No. 27, issued on December 12, authorizing government agencies to grant SRIs to qualified employees.
The distribution of the SRIs will be managed by DepEd's regional offices to provide the maximum allowable bonus to government employees.
“This is a historic moment for DepEd, as we are able to grant the highest SRI ever for our workforce. We are deeply grateful to President Marcos Jr. for his steadfast support in prioritizing the welfare of teachers and staff who serve as the backbone of the education sector,” said DepEd Secretary Sonny Angara.
Marcos emphasized that his administration prioritizes the educators, describing them as a “special category” deserving increased government support.
“This incentive is a clear testament to how much we value the sacrifices of our education frontliners, who continue to ensure learning excellence amidst challenges,” Angara added.
This year’s SRI surpasses the previous P18,000 incentive granted in 2023, reflecting the administration’s increased budget allocation and commitment to educators’ welfare.
Angara also recognized the role of the Department of Budget and Management (DBM), led by Secretary Amenah Pangandaman, in facilitating the release of the SRI.
“Maituturing itong maagang Pamasko para sa ating mga guro at kawani, lalo na sa panahong ito,” Pangandaman said, underscoring the payout’s importance for families as the holiday season approaches.
To qualify for the full P20,000 SRI, a personnel must have rendered at least four months of satisfactory service as of November 30, 2024, and remain employed during the payout period. Those with shorter service will receive a pro-rated amount.
The SRI is a one-time annual year-end recognition granted to government employees, including personnel in national agencies, state universities, local government units, and uniformed services. Its release highlights the government’s ongoing effort to support public servants and honor their contributions.
