The Comelec First Division has dismissed Atty. Jose Sonny G. Matula’s petition against Quiboloy for being a nuisance candidate by cancelling his Certificate of Candidacy (COC) in the upcoming 2025 Midterm Elections.
“The Petition deserves scant consideration for being unmeritorious and should be dismissed,” stated on the ruling.
The Comelec noted that Atty. Matula’s grounds in dropping Quiboloy’s COC are incorrect and lack factual basis.
Quiboloy received former president Duterte’s endorsement in the upcoming midterm elections as the PDP Laban’s party list included him for the people to vote, according to their Facebook post last December 19.
There are other seven candidates who are also endorsed by Duterte: Musician Atty. Jimmy Bondoc, Incumbent Senators Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa and Christopher “Bong” Go, Deputy Secretary General for Visayas Atty. Jesus “Jayvee” Hinlo Jr., Former Cabinet Member Atty. Raul Lambino, SAGIP partylist representative Cong. Rodante “Dante” Marcoleta, and Actor Philip “Ipe” Salvador.
According to a September Pulse Asia Senatorial Preference Poll, Quiboloy will possibly rank top 49-68 in the midterm elections, a long way to go if he wants to be included in the Magic 12.
