A recent survey by the Social Weather Stations (SWS) revealed that four in 10 Filipinos support the impeachment of the Vice President.

It was commissioned by Stratbase Research and Intelligence and conducted from December 12 to 18, 2024. Findings show that 41% of Filipinos are in agreement with Duterte’s impeachment, 35% in disagreement, while 19% of respondents are undecided on the issue. 

Impeachment support was highest in Balance Luzon with 50%, followed by the National Capital Region at 45%, while opposition was strongest in Mindanao, Duterte’s home region, where 56% of respondents opposed the move.


In the Visayas, 24% of respondents were undecided, making it the highest among all regions, while 40% supported her impeachment and 33% opposed it.

Various groups have filed three impeachment complaints against the Vice President, which have been supported by six members of the House of Representatives.

Recently, deputy minority leader France Castro anticipates more support for efforts to remove Vice President Sara Duterte as a majority-backed fourth impeachment complaint is set to be filed in the House of Representatives.

Among socio-economic classes, support for Duterte's impeachment is strongest among the ABC bracket, comprising the upper to middle classes, with 50% in favor.

Meanwhile, support for Duterte's impeachment was recorded at 41% among Class D, representing the lower middle class, and 37% among Class E, which includes individuals belonging from the lower class.  

The leading reason cited by 46% of those in favor of impeachment was Duterte's failure to account for the spending of confidential and intelligence funds allocated to the Office of the Vice President and the Department of Education during her term as Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary.

The SWS survey was conducted with 2,160 respondents, with 1,080 coming from Balance Luzon, and 360 each from Metro Manila, Visayas, and Mindanao.
