Through the ‘LAHAB Journignited’ Workshop hosted by The Philippine Schools (TPS) Abu Dhabi Baniyas, Explained PH editors shared their knowledge in more than 10 writing and publishing categories for free.
Students from The Philippine Global School, The Philippine School Dubai and the Philippine Emirates Private School were eligible to participate in the workshops conducted via online communications platform Zoom.
The collaboration offered lectures in News Writing, Editorial Writing, Column Writing, Feature Writing, Science and Technology Writing, Sports Writing, Copyreading and Headline Writing, Editorial Cartooning, Photojournalism, Layout Design and Broadcasting in both radio and television.
‘Journignited’ aims to ‘provide a comprehensive overview of various journalism categories, empowering aspiring writers and journalists with the skills they need for future writing and publication endeavors.’
LAHAB is the official student publication of TPS Abu Dhabi Baniyas formed in September, 2024 and through their partnership with Explained PH, intends to recruit ‘people with talent in writing, speaking, capturing, and the artful skills dealing with the public material editing.’
Explained PH regularly offers free live journalism lectures through its Facebook Page featuring esteemed campus journalists and experts in their respective fields, including winners from the National Schools Press Conference.
Republic Act 7079 or The Campus Journalism Act of 1991 mandates the implementation of campus journalism programs in Philippine schools to ‘uphold and protect the freedom of the press’ and promote ‘responsible and free journalism.’
