Manila - Lone Philippine Olympian Asa Miller received ₱3.3 million worth of funding from the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) for his golden quest at the upcoming Winter Olympics in Beijing starting February 4.

He will fly the flag as its lone representative in the Slalom events on February 13-16, with Yanqing's Xiaohaituo Alpine Skiing Field located northwest of the capital as its main battlefield.

Long-time PH official outfitter Asics, according to Philippine Olympic Committee president Abraham "Bambol" Tolentino, also threw their immense support in the Beijing-bound delegation.

Said Tolentino: "The POC expressed its gratitude to the PSC and Asics for their valuable support to our participation in the Winter Olympics."

Also joining in the Beijing-bound delegation are coach Will Gregorak, Philippine Ski and Snowboarding Federation president Jim Palomar Apelar, COVID-19 liaison officer Nikki Cheng, athlete and administrative officer Dave Carter, and athlete welfare officer Jobert Yu.

"We are very grateful for the generous support of the POC and PSC in spite of this very difficult time," Floro said. "It is our hope that our continuous participation in sporting events brings some hope and national pride to our countrymen."

Miller and Gregorak will be flying to Beijing via connecting flights from the United States on January 28, the same day the main delegation will leave the country. Floro, meanwhile, will leave a day prior, January 27.
