Fernandez asked Yang if he knew Chinese businessmen Allan Lim, who is allegedly his partner in his rice milling business in Cagayan de Oro.
Yang, through translator Carol Batay, repeatedly denied that he knew Lim.
Fernandez presented his rice mill business’ General Information Sheet (GIS) showing Lim is also part of the business.
“Wala? Ayan pakita natin. Mr. Chairman, I’ll be citing this person in contempt [for] many times that he lied. Maliwanag na maliwanag sa GIS (general information sheet), diyan sa corporation, diyan sa rice milling corporation, ayan si Allan Lim, kasosyo mo,” Fernandez said, citing that Yang lied in his answer that he doesn’t know Lim.
Fernandez also asked if he knew Ricky Go, another Chinese businessman and an alleged drug personality that is a business partner of Yang.
Yang denied, saying through his translator that he doesn’t have company with the two Chinese businessmen.
The lawmaker also showed a video containing Yang walking past immigration officers without inspection.
“Wala siyang pakialam. Hindi niya nire-respeto ang ating mga immigration officers. Why? We don’t know. He established pakikisama to all those people. Basically, we Filipinos have something also to be regretful kasi pinababayaan natin na babuyin tayo ng mga banyagang gaya nito,” Fernandez said as he showed the video.
“There are two personalities, drug personalities, that I mentioned that are included as incorporators of the two companies, and he lied twice. Allan Lim and Ricky Go who are involved in drugs. And now, in front of us, he is lying. I think, Mr. Chairman, it’s high time that we cite him in contempt,” said Fernandez, saying the final decision of the committee to put Yang in contempt.
Yang was about to be detained in Quezon City Jail when the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) requested that he be detained at the PAOCC Temporary Detention Facility instead.
Tony Yang is the brother of former presidential adviser Michael Yang.
The two have been alleged as the brains behind a massive crime network in the country.
He is said to own the Philippine Ganja Steel Corporation, which has the same layout as the POGO hubs raided in Bamban, Tarlac and Porac, Pampanga.
