The Office of the Vice President (OVP) on Tuesday said Vice President Leni Robredo has proven her skills in leadership in addressing the coronavirus pandemic amid President Rodrigo Duterte’s fresh tirades against her.

Gutierrez added the Vice President has the responsibility to speak over government’s policies.

In his weekly briefing, Duterte said Robredo is not qualified to run as President on next year’s polls despite the fact that Robredo has yet to reveal her plans for 2022 race.

Duterte made the reaction on Robredo’s statement likening the government’s plan to have United States to pay for the continuation of Visiting Forces Agreement (VFA) to “extortion.”

For his part, Senator Panfilo Lacson said Duterte is wrong to claim that crafting foreign policy is the President’s sole prerogative.

He also cited Article 7, Section 21 of the Constitution that states “no treaty or international agreement shall be valid and effective unless concurred in by at least two-thirds of the Members of the Senate.”
