President Rodrigo Duterte said he is hesitant on running as vice president in 2022, dismissing a call from his ruling party PDP-Laban.

“Mahirap yan Pastor kasi mag-retire na ako and this time, ako ang mamili ng presidente, tapos ‘pag manalo sabihin nila, ano lang yan, perpetuate yourself in power. So nagreresist ako,” Duterte told pastor Apollo Quiboloy in an interview last Tuesday.

He also added that he is "ready for retirement" now.

Earlier, Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) urged Duterte to run for vice presidency in 2022.

According to Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, Duterte will consider advices from everyone, especially those who are close to him.

“The President will consider their advice, although for Mayor Sara, the decision has to be made by Mayor Sara,” Roque said.
