Former Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile defends social media personality Toni Gonzaga against bashers in a Facebook post on Friday.

“Poor Toni Gonzaga. She is a victim of prejudiced minds — people who took undeserved credit and advantage for the so-called people power revolution of 1986,” wrote Enrile, who was among the leaders of the 1986 People Power Revolution.

He also added that bashers were ignorant of facts and only acted on the basis of what they heard or imagined.

Gonzaga was under hot water for her recently uploaded Youtube video entitled “The Greatest Lesson Bongbong Marcos Learned from his Father,” which featured an interview with former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos.

Some criticized the timing of the video’s publication as it was in between the late Ferdinand Marcos’ birthday and the 48th anniversary of the country’s Martial Law declaration.

Accusations surrounding Gonzaga’s possible support in Bongbong Marcos’ political candidacy in the upcoming 2022 elections also spiraled in social media platforms.

The social media personality issued a response to criticisms during an interview with Edu Manzano for “Good vibes with Edu” back in July 2020.

“I’ve reached a point in my life where I realized that other people’s perception of me is not my responsibility anymore,” Gonzaga said.

“Because I have nothing to hide, I have nothing to defend, I have nothing to prove, I have nothing to explain to anybody because I know who I am deep inside,” she added.

Gonzaga hosts an ongoing Youtube series called “Toni Talks: 2022 The Special Series,” where she interviews political candidates for the upcoming elections.
