Albay 2nd District Representative Joey Salceda sought for a Leni-Sara leadership this 2022 election as he endorsed presidential aspirant Vice President Leni Robredo and a counterparty vice-presidential Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte.

In a statement on Thursday, February 10, Salceda firmly claimed that he is for Leni and Sara, for he eyed their track record in public service revealing “good governance and management style.”

“Both VP Leni and Mayor Sara are known for judicious and effective use of public resources in the offices and agencies they presided over. This will be very crucial given our post-pandemic fiscal space,” the lawmaker stated.

He believed that they could work together due to aligned visions for the country, especially in economic development adding the foundation of their friendship if they win.

“Leni-Sara is not a hostile combination,” he added.

He earlier revealed his endorsement towards Leni on Wednesday, February 9, acknowledging “genuine compassion for the poor” making her the best among all presidential candidates.

Additionally, Salceda is one of the allies of the Duterte family under the Philippine Democratic Party-People’s Power (PDP-Laban) which raised questions upon endorsement of Sara Duterte’s non-running mate.

“My party, PDP-Laban, has endorsed Mayor Sara, but has not announced its support for any presidential candidate,” he clarified giving the party members freedom to choose based on their own judgment.

Moreover, he stated that numerous politicians expressed support for Leni-Sara including other party members and political leaders.
