Walang rekord sa New York State Bar Association (NYSBA) na miyembro nito ang asawa ni presidentiable Bongbong Marcos na si Louise "Liza" Araneta-Marcos, ayon mismo sa asosasyon.
Ito ay salungat sa nakalagay sa opisyal na website bio ni Araneta-Marcos na siya ay miyembro ng nasabing asosasyon.
Sa email ng NYSBA sa Vera Files, inihayag nila na “At this time, our records show that Louise Marie Araneta-Marcos is not a member of our Association.”
Kaugnay nito, sumulat din ang Attorney Registration Unit of New York State’s Office of the Court Administrator (NYSOCA) bilang tugon sa Vera Files Fact Check's query.
“A review of our files indicates no record of an individual listed as admitted as an attorney to the New York bar since 1920 with the name of ‘MARIE LOUISE ARANETA-MARCOS’, ‘MARIE LOUISE CACHO ARANETA’, or ‘LOUISE ARANETA MARCOS’," sabi ng email ng NYSOCA.
Ang NYSBA ay isang pribadong samahan ng mga lisensiyadong abogado sa New York na binuo noong 1876 na kung saan ay bukas din para sa mga banyagang abogado.
Matatandaang idiniin ni Liza Marcos sa interbyu sa kaniya ni television host Boy Abunda na "the government can't afford me," dahil "I'm very New York."
Pinatutsadahan naman ni former Commission on Elections (Comelec) commissioner Rowena Guanzon si Liza na "It's easy to pass the New York Bar. I would be a bit impressed if she passed the California Bar."
