“Lifetime” and “Kathang Isip” hitmakers, Ben & Ben is currently under fire after being mentioned in a podcast episode featuring fellow OPM band, Tanya Markova regarding a scheduling mishap that occured in 2022.
Tanya Markova, an indie band known for its songs “Linda Blair” and “Picture Picture” shared on the Koolpals podcast episode how they were suddenly cut off during the CAMANAVA grand rally of Atty. Leni Robredo's presidential campaign.
They mentioned how the lineup was released—with them performing first before Ben & Ben but was sidelined last minute by the event organizers as the former was called onto stage to perform prior to the other artists instead.
However, the nine-member band apologized and said that they thought the event was nearing to an end; having no idea that other artists were sidelined and were prioritized instead.
The indie group spoke up to address how they accept Ben & Ben's apology but hopes that future events would properly address their guest stars if similar issues would occur, giving justice and a voice to other artists who were silenced during it.
“Yung ibang banda rin nakikita namin, nagrereklamo na rin,” the group said.
Additionally, Ben & Ben recently faced a recurring issue as DWTA, an artist known for their songs "Padaba Taka" and "Delikado" was also sidelined during the Far Eastern University - Diliman’s concert on August 13.
The artist expressed in their Facebook Page in a now deleted post how they were unfortunately not able to perform due to “circumstances”, leading fans to suspect that it was caused by Ben & Ben.
Following this, the management of Ben & Ben has issued statements for both issues, stating how the band profoundly apologizes and has “proof” in regards to the matter—expressing how these issues were out of their control and that they would no longer tolerate the continuous backlash the band faces.
“It was never the intention nor the action of the band nor the band’s management to sideline other artists,” the management said.
Comments from netizens have shown distaste for how the band has responded to the said issues—calling them “out-of-touch” and hungry for attention.
