According to DOTr, these lanes are dedicated to the seamless transaction for the students who are going to avail the 50 percent fare discount.

Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon revealed that the allocation of designated student lanes was at the instruction of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

Moreover, he reiterated that it is the government’s role to ensure the efficiency of public transport by establishing effective management, especially for students.

Meanwhile, Light Rail Manila Corp. (LRMC), the one responsible for the operations of LRT-1, assures the implementation of queuing systems in managing passenger flow.

Last June 20, DOTr lifted the student fare discounts for LRT-1, LRT-2, and MRT-3 from 2 percent to 50 percent, effective until 2028.
