MANILA, Philippines — Following President Rodrigo Duterte's dictum discouraging his younger daughter not to seek the presidency, Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro “Teddy Boy” Locsin, Jr. said Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio "will win" if opted to run for president in the next elections.

Locsin's remarks came after the Chief Executive declared anew that he had cautioned his daughter against seeking the presidency, even saying that the highest government post is “not for women.”

"To enemies of Duterte especially whiners: keep insulting him as he walks away from power he all but owns—dragging his daughter with him—and he might tell her to run," he said in a tweet.

"She will win, hands down. And any prospect of charges dropped without trial evaporates for the next  7 1/2 years," he added.

On Thursday, Duterte himself said his daughter is not pursuing the highest government post of the land and that he discouraged her from doing so.

“My daughter, inuudyok man nila. Sabi ko, my daughter, is not running. I have told Inday not to run because naaawa ako sa dadaanan nya na dinaanan ko,” Duterte said in a speech at the inauguration of the Metro Manila Skyway Stage 3.

He reiterated that presidency is not a woman’s job.

“Hindi ito pambabae. Alam mo, the emotional set-up of a woman and a man is totally different. Maging gago ka dito. That is the sad story,” he said.

Meanwhile, according to a report of GMA News on Friday, the presidential daughter told Reuters that she is not keen on following her father's footsteps.

“I am not being coy nor am I doing a last minute. If the whole country doesn’t want to believe that, then I can’t do anything about it. Not everyone wants to be president. I am one of them,” Sara said.

“I thank all of them for their trust and confidence in what I can do but my refusal to run for president is not the end of the world,” she added.

Earlier, Sara Duterte also wants her name off lists of choices in presidential bet polls.

The presidential daughter recently topped the recent Pulse Asia survey for possible presidential bets in 2022.
