Vaccine Czar Sec. Carlito Galvez, Jr. is still optimistic that the Philippines will celebrate a “better” Christmas, emphasizing the importance of enhanced vaccination programs.
“Our goal of having a better Christmas is still attainable,” Galvez assured the public.

“Maraming areas na mabibilis magbakuna and with the continuous deliveries of our vaccine supplies, kayang-kaya natin ma-achieve ‘yong minimithi natin sa NCR and other areas na magkaroon ng better Christmas sa December,” he added.
Also, the chief implementor of National Task Force (NTF) Against COVID-19 highlighted the importance of achieving herd immunity to protect the public from the Delta variant, which is believed to have caused the COVID-19 cases surge in the country.

Galvez also said NCR is likely to achieve herd immunity possibly by September, as local government units (LGUs) spike vaccine rollout.

He also shared the government’s goal of administering 250,000 vaccines daily, a 30,000 increase from present’s 220,000 daily doses.

Meanwhile, more than 12 million Filipinos have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, and 14 million had received their first dose.
