Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. has revealed Hong Kong does not accept the proof of vaccination cards being issued in the Philippines.

Due to the cards not being connected to a single source, the vaccination cards would not be considered in HK, Locsin said.

"Our vaccination cards are not accepted in Hong Kong because they are not connected to a single source. Poor OFWs (overseas Filipino workers) going to their jobs in Hong Kong even if jabbed," Locsin pointed out in a tweet on Tuesday.

Earlier, Health Undersecretary Myrna Cabotaje to the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and the Bureau of Quarantine said that they have been operating to produce vaccination cards in a digitized version.

By the end of August or in September is the possible month that the said card could be rolled out, she added.

The government in agreement with the World Health Organization (WHO) on the international verification system is now seeking guidelines for COVID-19 vaccinations.

Necessarily, the said guidelines are for the OFWs deployment.
