President Rodrigo Duterte said that the distribution of COVID-19 vaccines in different areas  must be shuffled and told government health personnel not to favor some brands.

"Huwag kayong mamili. Sabi ko kay Secretary [Carlito] Galvez…ibabalasa ninyo. Iyong isang karton itapon mo sa isa dito… so ang magdating sa inyo halo," Duterte said in a recorded meeting aired on Wednesday, October 20, 2021.

Duterte also addressed the government health workers that favoring some vaccine brands will “spoil everything.”

"If they are not effective and if they are not good, eh bakit ngayon halos wala nang patay?" Duterte added.

He acknowledged that there is preference on Western-made vaccines such as Moderna and Pfizer, but he insisted that all vaccines were developed by medically-equipped people in laboratories.

China-based Sinovac Biotech shots made up about half of Philippine’s vaccine supply.

Meanwhile, there are at least 24 million fully vaccinated population in the country.
