3 dead, 34 hospitalized in Davao Occidental diarrhea outbreak

Three have died and 34 are still in the hospital due to the
reported diarrhea outbreak in Davao Occidental, Jose Abad Santos Municipal
Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office said Sunday.
JAS-NDRRMO Roger Deloy said in a radio interview with Super
Radyo dzBB the 34 hospitalized were all from Barangay Butuan.
In addition, Jose Abad Santos Mayor Jason John Joyce named
in a Facebook post one of the fatalities , Emilio Sumanday (age not mentioned).
"Sa kasamaang palad ay may isang casualty po tayo. May
you rest in peace Tatay Emilio Sumanday. 🙏🙏🙏," Joyce wrote.
According to Deloy, the regional health unit still evaluates
the outbreak suspecting the water quality in the area as the cause.
"Sa tubig ata (dahilan ng outbreak) pero still
ini-evaluate pa ng mga taga-RHU namin," said Deloy.
Furthermore, Mayor Joyce also posted in his Facebook account
at around 11AM that medicines and other help.
"Medicines and other help are on its way...Marami pa
pong tulong na darating. Will post for transparency. Daghan kaayong
salamat," said Joyce.
