Although she is not yet saying if she will run for presidential office in 2022, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio thanked groups behind the “Run, Sara, Run” campaign.

The groups posted photos and videos on Facebook showing their willingness for Duterte to run to 2022 presidential polls.

“I am grateful for their trust and confidence in me and what I can do and how I can help. Thank you,” Duterte-Carpio said in a radio interview on Monday.

It was the first time the presidential daughter expressed gratitude to individuals behind campaigns to be the successor of her father, President Rodrigo Duterte.

She repeatedly said that the presidential race is farthest from her mind as she is focusing on addressing the issues amid the coronavirus pandemic.

In an interview over GMA News, Duterte-Carpio said she understands where her supporters coming from, adding she was anxious about where the Philippines is going as a nation.

But if ever she would run for presidency, it would be on 2034 national polls.

The Davao Mayor previously warned those soliciting funds to campaign her in next year’s election, saying she never permitted anyone to do so.

President Duterte said he told his daughter not to run, saying he does not want his daughter to experience what he is going through.
