After the Malacañang bared President Rodrigo Duterte's choices to endorse as his successor for the 2022 polls, Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Damagoso said the presidential post should not be simply inherited from a family member.

In an interview with CNN Philippines' The Source, Moreno said that he will not vote for someone who will just inherit a political position.

"Kasi ang pwesto hindi minamana, hindi nililipat-lipat," said Moreno.

Furthermore, the Manila Mayor is among the five picks of the President for the presidency in 2022 elections along with Duterte's daughter, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, Senator Manny Pacquiao, Senator Christopher "Bong" Go, and former senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.

Two among the choices have fathers who became Presidents of the country: Davao City Mayor is a child of President Duterte, while Bongbong is also a son of late Ferdinand Marcos and former Ilocos Norte Rep. Imelda Marcos.

Both also have siblings who are currently taking a position in the government with Duterte's House Deputy Speaker Paolo Duterte and Davao City Vice Mayor Sebastian Duterte.

Marcos' sister Imee Marcos, on the other hand, is a senator since 2019.

In the meantime, Moreno is still silent about his political plans next year but thanked the President and the people for including him as one of the top choices.

"Salamat at na-appreciate niyo yung pagsisikap ng aming paglingkod sa tao," he said. "I am grateful to those persons who think, ay pwede pala ako..."

However, he said that Manila's pandemic response is his top priority as of now.

"But let me focus and do my job in the city of Manila first," Moreno uttered.
