People from Davao where President Rodrigo Duterte and his daughter Sara Duterte-Carpio started public service should be asked for insights regarding the future of the Philippines should the tandem run for 2022 elections, said Malacañang.

“Let’s just put it this way. Nagkaroon na ng Duterte-Duterte in Davao, let’s ask the people of Davao if it was good for the city because that could also be a clue that could help us decide if a Duterte-Duterte tandem would be good for the country,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in a media briefing when asked if such tandem will be “wise” for the next year’s polls.

However, Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi said the Duterte-Duterte 2022 tandem should be studied first.

“So kung sasabihin natin yung Duterte-Duterte, that is something that we need to really study, we cannot answer if it’s good or not good at the moment,” Cusi, who also serving as the vice-chairperson of the ruling Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-LABAN), said in the same briefing.

“What we need to do is find out who can really, makakatulong, makakasulong sa pag-progress, pag asenso ng ating mamamayan at ng ating bayan, yun ang importante,” he added.

Last Monday, May 31, PDP-LABAN adopted a resolution seeking to “convince” President Duterte to run as vice president for next year.

Meanwhile, Albay Representative Joey Salceda said that Sara Duterte will run as president next year and the latter is “going through the process of building alliances.”

But, Roque said the presidential daughter has yet to make an announcement regarding the matter.
