VP Spokesperson Barry Gutierrez lambasted Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque for “lying” that Vice President Leni Robredo opted to resign from the Cabinet post to lead the opposition.
“Ayoko na sanang patulan pero sobrang sinungaling eh. "Pinili" daw ni VP Leni na umalis sa Gabinete para maging lider ng oposisyon. Hay naku, magsisinungaling na lang andali pang hulihin,” Gutierrez wrote in a tweet alongside a photo that discloses former Cabinet Secretary Leoncio “Jun” Evasco Jr.'s text massage to Robredo.
Gutierrez’s made the statement on Wednesday, July 21, in response to Roque’s earlier claim that Robredo willfully stooped down as chair of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC).
"Nakalimutan ho ba niya (Robredo) na binigyan siya ng cabinet post ng ating Presidente pero mas pinili niya na maging lider ng oposisyon kaysa magtayo ng mga pabahay?" Roque said.
Back in December 5, 2016, Robredo said she will quit her post as President Duterte's housing chief following his order for her "to desist from attending all Cabinet meetings".
Robredo bared that the order was given through a text message sent by Evasco, who in turn was relaying instructions given by Duterte through his former special assistant Bong Go.
