As his name appeared on the released initial list of the senatorial lineup of President Rodrigo Duterte, Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque stated he will focus on his job as the Chief Executive's spokesperson before crafting plans for the 2022 elections.

Roque expressed his gratitude for PDP-Laban's trust in him but clarified that his focus remains on his role, during his press briefing on July 21.

According to the spokesman, he will be deciding after the country reaches the eyed vaccinations of the vulnerable groups, or after the country attains the population protection.

Moreover, Roque said he is currently engaged in improving the COVID-19 vaccine confidence in the country.

Roque also noted that he would be considering serious discussions about his health before thinking about his 2022 plans, avoiding another "heartbreak."

During the 2019 polls, Roque backed out from the senatorial race due to a "percutaneous coronary intervention following the discovery of an unstable angina coronary disease."

Furthermore, the Presidential Spokesman told that he was "praying for guidance" for his decision-making for another senatorial post attempt.
