Due to numerous reports of Chinese harassment in Panatag Shoal, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said he will visit Panatag on his own will, and not because of fishermen's dare.

"Hindi ko po kinakailangan ng kahit sinong humamon. Matagal ko na pong gustong pumunta doon," Roque said on Thursday.

Roque added that he will be visiting the shoal "before the end of President Duterte."

Pamalakaya, a fishers group, reported harassment of two Chinese coast guard vessels at Panatag.

The Chinese vessels reportedly prevented Filipino fishermen in entering the shoal.

However, Roque showed supposed pictures of fishermen accompanied by the coast guard in Panatag Shoal.

"Malinaw na malinaw, nakapangingisda po ang ating mga kababayan," Roque stated.

Panatag Shoal, also known as Scarborough Shoal, is part of the disputed Kalayaan Group of Islands.
