Team PH wins 2 silver, 1 bronze in 53rd IChO

Three Filipino students won two silver medals and one bronze medal at the recently concluded 53rd International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO), hosted in Japan last 25 July to 2 August.
Silver medalists Ron Ángelo Gelacio and Nathan Wayne Ariston both hail from the Philippine Science High School (PSHS) System.
Gelacio is from PSHS - Main Campus, while Ariston is from PSHS - Central Mindanao Campus.
Moreover, both scholars have previously won in the 52nd IChO hosted in İstanbul, Turkey, last year.
“KUDOS TO OUR CHEMISTRY WIZARDS! The Philippine Science High School System congratulates Ron Angelo A. Gelacio of the PSHS-Main Campus and Nathan Wayne F. Ariston of the PSHS-Central Mindanao Campus for winning silver medals in the 53rd International Chemistry Olympiad,” the PSHS System wrote on their Facebook page.
Meanwhile, bronze medalist Aames Juriel Morales is from De La Salle University Integrated School (Senior High School Main Campus).

The IChO is an annual academic competition for high school students, and is composed of a theoretical test and a practical exam.
Due to the pandemic, this year’s IChO was held via remote access exam.
