52% of the 60.46 million registered voters are young Filipinos, Commission on Elections (Comelec) Director James Jimenez announced.

31.41 million registered voters hailed from the 18-40 years old age group, classified as youth voters by the Comelec.

Jimenez emphasized the importance of the youth voters in the upcoming 2022 national elections.

“That's how significant the youth vote is in the coming election," Jimenez noted.

Jimenez also said that registered voters may reach 62 million as Comelec processes 25,000 registrants daily.

He also said that the commission expects more registered voters even during the pandemic, and that they have been adapting the system for persons deprived of liberty in COVID-19 quarantine facilities.

The deadline for voters’ registration will be on September 30, 2021.
