President Rodrigo Duterte said he is confident to win the vice presidential race in the 2022 elections as he cited the alleged “lack of opposition” to fight with.

Duterte also made a prediction that no opposition will win next year, as he referred to the previous run of “Ocho Diretso” candidates for the 2019 senatorial ticket.

“Sabi ko magtakbo ako ng vice president. Bakit? Walang oposisyon eh. Hindi man manalo iyang opposition. Sigurado ako yung Ocho Derecho ulit na naman iyon. Walang ipinakita sa Pilipinas,” Duterte said in a recorded “Talk to the People” address aired last Tuesday morning.

Moreover, the chief executive claimed that Senator Imee Marcos went to Davao City and talked with Mayor and first daughter Sara Duterte-Carpio, in hopes to be her running-mate should Sara decide to join the 2022 presidential derby.

“Si Imee ganito ang laro niyan eh. pinuntahan niya si Mayor Duterte sa Davao hoping na magtakbo yun siya ang maging bise. Eh hindi naman tatakbo, sabi ni Mayor Sara Duterte hindi siya magtakbo,” he said.

Last week, Malacañang said President Duterte will run for vice president if Sara declines the calls for her for presidential candidacy, as it was meant to observe delicadeza.

The Palace also said Duterte will turn down the candidacy if House Majority Leader and Leyte Representative Martin Romualdez opts to run. The lawmaker has yet to announce his political plans as of writing.
