Student participants protested against the supposed attempt for 'historical revisionism' during the virtual Student Congress of Commission on Higher Education-Cordillera Administrative Region's (CHED-CAR) that featured Sandro Marcos as speaker.
A Twitter user RJ Naguit shared photos of some participants that abruptly changed their names to “#MarcosMagnanakaw”, "#NeverAgain" and “Archimedes Trajano” in the middle of the session to push back any attempts in revising the atrocities during the Martial law era.
"Awww. Ayaw nila ng participative audience? Sad. #MarcosMagnanakaw #NeverAgain," Naguit tweeted.
Sandro, grandson of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos, was invited as a speaker in the two-day forum and will talk on "Redefining the Role of Youth in Nation Building".
CHED-CAR has recently drawn flak online for initially using "Hon." before the name of the younger Marcos, when in fact he only works as a House Majority Leader Staff Assistant. The backlash prompted CHED-CAR to alter the honorifics in its publication material into "Mr."
Sandro on Tuesday, Sept. 14, has announced his candidacy for the congressional post of Ilocos Norte's first district in the 2022 elections.
