The Filipinas dominated at its finest once again, thwarting Malaysia with a ruthless 4-0 win to remain unbeaten in the group stages of the AFF Women’s Championship at the Rizal Memorial Stadium, Friday evening.

The former Malditas continued their winning ways by putting the clamps on Malaysia’s offensive flow with no shot attempts to clinch their third win.

Sara Eggesvik opened the scoring floodgates early with a right-footed strike to shrug off their early strain while setting up her teammates with two assists.

“We scored some goals and we won the game but I think we lacked a little bit of rhythm,” said coach Alen Stajcic.

With this dismantling victory, the Philippine Women’s National Football Team (PWNFT) solidified their solo lead in Group A with a 3-0-0 record, and moved inches closer to the semifinals.

The home squad failed to score at first, but early substitute Eggesvik delivered a long-distance shot in the 32nd minute amid the overruled protest from Malaysian goalkeeper Nurul Azurin, 1-0.

With three minutes left in the first half, Katrina Guillou erected a 2-0 margin in the 43rd minute off her rebound on Tahnai Annis’ missed shot.

The Filipinas set loose going into the second half with Quinley Quezada scoring a header off of Eggesvik’s throw for an unanswered 3-0 lead.

Sealing the win, Eggesvik’s brilliant passing led to another shot in the 72nd as Anicka Castaneda nailed the final goal with a header to assert their dominance over the hapless Malaysians.

Malaysia remained outside of the win column with 2 draws and a loss, sinking to fourth place in the standings after Australia posted an overwhelming win over Indonesia.

The Filipinas will continue to assert its mastery in Group A with its match against Indonesia at 7pm in the same venue on Sunday.
