Former Vice President Leni Robredo commended the spirit of volunteerism in the country as Bayanihan e-Konsulta gathered over 1,100 volunteers upon announcing the resumption of the program on Wednesday.

Robredo expressed her joy in a tweet after sharing that the program has over 1,100 volunteer applicants.

“In less than 20 minutes, 1,100 volunteers already signed up for the resumption of Bayanihan e-Konsulta. Thank you. The spirit of volunteerism is alive and well,” the former vice president said

Earlier, Robredo said in a Facebook post that she would resume the free online consultation service and called for 50 non-medical and 40 medical volunteers to join the preparation for the relaunch of the service.

Launched in April 2021 during the surge of COVID-19 Delta variant cases, the Bayanihan e-Konsulta assisted over 58,000 COVID and non-COVID patients and provided COVID-positive patients with medical kits that included medicines and other medical equipment needed for recovery.

Upon terminating the service on May 31, 2022, Robredo still expressed her interest in relaunching the program through her non-government organization Angat Buhay Pilipinas and shared the possibility of adjusting the program to fit communities and post-COVID scenarios.
