It was a bittersweet ending for "The Passion".
Former ONE Strawweight Champion Joshua Pacio redeemed the throne after suffering an injury against erstwhile champion Jared Brooks to win by disqualification in the first round in ONE 166 at the Lusail Sports Arena in Qatar, March 1.
The defending champion Brooks instantly controlled Pacio's back in the opening seconds of the first round, but aggressively threw down the Filipino champ straight into his neck which caused referee Herb Dean to call a disqualification against him.
Pacio went immediately unconscious after the slam and received unnecessary blows right after.
The Baguio-based warrior recaptured his strawweight belt and is now a six-time world champion.
Brooks, meanwhile, will lose for the first time in his championship run and end his seven winning streak.
On the other hand, Pinoy fighter Jeremy Miado also stepped into the cage as one of the undercards but fell into the hands of Japanese Keito Yamakita in their strawweight bout via submission.
